O Gringo Street Art in Lisbon

An illustrated route through the city. Public artworks may change or disappear over time.

01 / Lisbon

A different way
to see the city.

O Gringo brings portraiture, photographic imagery and azulejo-inspired patterns into the urban landscape. A face beside a doorway. A figure on an old wall. An unexpected encounter along a familiar street.

Across Lisbon, these interventions connect the artist’s visual language with the textures and rhythms of the city. The photographs below document works encountered in its public spaces.

02 / LX Factory, Lisbon

Creativity.
Out in the open.

At LX Factory, O Gringo’s street art enters a landscape of industrial architecture, independent spaces and everyday movement. His interventions can be discovered along the complex’s public routes, while La Smart Galerie offers another encounter with his work.

03 / Ovar

The fisherman.
The memory of the sea.

In Ovar, the fisherman brings the relationship between people and the ocean onto an architectural surface. The public intervention belongs to the wider artistic context of Entre Dois Mundos, presented at Centro de Arte de Ovar in 2024.

The exhibition formed part of Aveiro 2024 — Portuguese Capital of Culture and Maio do Azulejo, with curatorial involvement from the National Tile Museum. The sea and the communities whose lives are shaped by it lie at the heart of this body of work.

04 / Estrela da Amadora

Sonhadores.
A shared dream.

Created for C.F. Estrela da Amadora, Sonhadores connects Portuguese tile imagery with a message of inclusion. The mural was unveiled on 10 December 2023, International Human Rights Day, on the SAD building beside Estádio José Gomes.

From preparation in the studio to installation on the façade, the project brought artistic creation into the life of the football club and its community.

Recognition for the initiative. The campaign Igualdade na Diferença!, which included the mural, received the December 2023 Social Responsibility Award from Fundação do Futebol — Liga Portugal. The award was presented on 27 January 2024 at the Allianz Cup final.

05 / Carcavelos & Parede

Eternidade.
Strength in blue and white.

Installed on Passeio Padre Aleixo Cordeiro in Carcavelos, Eternidade pays tribute to the strength of women through a composition featuring two Lusitano horses and patterns drawn from seventeenth- and eighteenth-century tile heritage.

The artist’s official record describes a 110 m² intervention completed in November 2023. The inauguration was attended by Nuno Piteira Lopes, then a councillor at Cascais Municipality, and Nuno Alves, president of the Union of Parishes of Carcavelos and Parede, alongside executive members Manuel Magalhães and Odete Abrantes.

06 / Montijo

Eva.
A dialogue with the town.

Eva marks O Gringo’s connection with Montijo. Located on Rua Pocinho das Nascentes, the mural was inaugurated on 5 October 2023, before the opening of the exhibition De ontem para hoje… e o azulejo sempre vivo! at the Municipal Gallery.

The project brought a public artwork and a gallery exhibition into the same cultural moment, extending the encounter with the artist’s work beyond the exhibition space.
